From 29 - 30 November 2006, delegates from European countries gathered in Brest, France, to discuss the following topic : "Heavy oil: what do we know? what do we still ignore? which possible responses?" at a workshop held in the Community Framework for Cooperation on Accidental and Deliberate Marine Pollution.

The workshop was organised by Centre de Documentation de Recherche et d'Expérimentations sur les Pollutions Accidentelles des Eaux (Cedre).

The structure of the workshop as well as the content of each session have been defined in close co-operation with Marine Environment Technology group of SINTEF (Norway) and the MUMM (Management of the North Sea, Mathematical Model, from the Marine Ecosystem Management, Belgium).
