In the frame of a memorandum of understanding to co-operate in better responding to oil spills at sea by passing ships, the Ship Research Institute and Cedre jointly organised in Brest, on the 6th and 7th of July 2000, under the framework of the Japanese-French scientific co-operation, an exchange of experience seminar on at sea response to the Nakhodka and Erika oil spills. Interested professional parties having experience in the matter, from those spills or other spills of interest, were invited to join and participate in widening the scope of the seminar to a discussion on the international know-how in the matter. Because of time constraints, not all presentations made at the seminar were fully formatted for publication. They have been finalized, to the best of the available material, and they are made public through this document. Authors having provided presentation documents only may be contacted directly for further information.
