Cedre Information Days,
20 March 2012,
INHESJ, Saint-Denis-La-Plaine.

The 17th Cedre Information Day was held on 20 March at INHESJ on the theme of spill and illegal discharge detection. Over sixty people with various backgrounds (administrations, companies) attended the series of conferences and took part in the question and answer sessions at the end. Following an overview of the background work conducted by Cedre in this area, spill detection techniques at the water surface by satellite and by aircraft used routinely were presented. The second part of the morning was devoted to innovations in the field of remote detection with the presentation of new tools which are currently undergoing research and experimentation. The afternoon was the opportunity to expand horizons with presentations on aerial surveillance in Belgian waters, the European satellite surveillance network CleanSeaNet and finally subsea oil detection during the Deepwater Horizon spill in April 2010.

In 2013, our Information Day will be devoted to drift modelling of slicks and overboard containers.
