“Understanding Black Tides” presents current knowledge in terms of the behaviour of oil at sea, the organisation put in place to respond to a spill, response means and the medium and long term consequences of an oil spill for the environment and maritime and economic activities.
It comprises a package of documents including new multimedia materials in order to raise the awareness of 12 to 18 year olds on the issue of oil spills and their impact on the environment.
This learning package provides a set of tools for teachers preparing biology, chemistry, geography or economics lessons. The text is illustrated with images, graphs and diagrams. A set of 4 posters accompany the guide and can be used for applied exercises in class.
The website also presents video clips, animations and quizzes so that visitors can test their knowledge.
