NewsResearchers' Night 2009

On Friday 25 September, Cedre took part in Researchers’ Night at Océanopolis in Brest.

This event, organised as part of an initiative launched by the European Commission, was the opportunity for the general public to meet Cedre’s scientists through various animations on the theme of accidental water pollution.

The first animation illustrated the importance of oil in our everyday lives. The visitors were challenged to guess whether the objects presented were made from petroleum products or not.

The second workshop presented the behaviour of oil spilt at sea using chocolate in different forms: melted chocolate, chocolate mousse, cakes and balls…

Finally, an exhibition of personal protective equipment and samples of response equipment and products helped visitors to more fully understand the organisation of clean-up operations after a spill.
