A major fire occurred at Cedre on Sunday 26 April 2009 during the day. The building was empty and nobody was injured. Despite the quick intervention of the security guard and the Brest fire brigade, the 150 m² physico-chemical analysis laboratory was entirely destroyed. Furthermore, the combustion fumes mean that the offices of the Research and Development, Contingency Planning and Spill Follow-up Departments are temporarily out of use.
Our overall functioning will be disrupted for a few days. The activity covered by our laboratory will be severely affected for several weeks.
Cedre’s response capacity in the event of a spill nevertheless remains intact.
Cedre’s personnel, familiar with emergency situations, are mobilised in order to restore relative normality as quickly as possible.
Following various surveys, clean-up operations by specialised companies began on Monday 27 in the afternoon.
