About CedreEmergency Department

Our response
A 24 hour advisory service

Tier 1
Simple problem: our duty engineer will answer your questions by phone, followed by written confirmation (fax, email).

Tier 2
Complex problem: after an initial reply by phone from the duty engineer, our engineers and technicians will be mobilised on our premises, our operational room temporarily activated and, if necessary, a technical advisor will be sent on site -> response centre and in the field.

Tier 3
Major pollution: our operational room will be activated for several weeks to several months. The entire team is liable to be involved. Technical advisors will take turns to be present on site. Our Response and Training Pilot Team (EPIF) will take charge of actions in the field. We will undertake the documentation of response operations and establish archives -> response centre and in the field.

Our provisions

  • Information on the pollutant: identification, characteristics, behaviour, risks for humans and the environment
  • Advice on response techniques
  • Behaviour modelling
  • Cartography, summaries, archives
  • Surveys, technical support

Our personnel on site

Our technical advisors and members of our Response and Training Pilot Team will be at your disposal for surveying in the field, observing the situation and risks, participating in crisis management meetings, recommending action to be taken, organising response worksites and training personnel in emergency conditions. They do not replace response coordinators: they assist them.

Accidental pollution or pollution threats
to inland or marine waters by all substances

Financing our intervention

For the public sector, tier 1 response is financed by State subsidies. Upon receipt of a written request for intervention, we prefinance our tier 2 and 3 intervention using our working capital. We then claim reimbursement from the polluter, his insurer or the relevant compensation fund. Intervention in the private sector is invoiced to pre-established assistance conventions or specific contracts.

Our tools at your disposal

  • Laboratory, flume test for simulation of weathering in the environment (polludrome), experimentation column, seawater basin (2,000 m²), artificial beach (6,000 m²), experimentation greenhouse for testing contamination of living organisms

  • Operational documentation on hydrocarbons and dangerous substances

  • Simulation of drift on the water surface (Météo France’s Mothy model, ASA OILMAP software)

  • Simulation of behaviour of dangerous substances in water (CHEMMAP software)

  • Operational cartography (observation and modelling data)

  • Partnership with the Ineris Emergency Support Unit, Météo France and the French Customs.
